About IWEICS

Introduction

The International Workshop on Emerging Issues and Challenges to Statistics (IWEICS) will be organized by Xiamen University in cooperation with University of Science and Technology of China and University of South Alabama. The workshop will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province, P.R. China. It is co-sponsored by the International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), the University of Science and Technology of China and the University of South Alabama.

The major concentration of the conference's academic activities will be on some emerging issues and challenges to statistics including, but not limited to, statistical genetics, parametric and nonparametric methods, bioinformatics, biased sampling, measurement errors.

Xiamen University is located in the South of China (see map). Xiamen has a fairly gentle and agreeable climate, with only slight temperature and climatic changes month by month. The winters are mild and quite pleasant at times, although some strong north-easterly winds are not uncommon.
